CoronaLove Fundraising

Dear friends,

As one humanity, our lives are connected to one another, we are all in this together. The medical workers in the cities of Atlanta, New Orleans and SuiZhou are in great need of your help.

The pandemic crisis in the US has reached its height creeping into our cities large and small and has forced us to shut down a great many schools, sports, activities centers, restaurants, and entertainment theaters and other businesses across the country. We have our campuses across three states. In response to this crisis, The local governments have activated retired medical professionals at this special time around the country.

“We’re not willing to run out of N95 masks,” Dr. Susan Ray, an infectious disease specialist at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, said in a phone interview, referring to the masks by their technical name. “That’s not O.K. at my hospital.” Reported by The New York Times, “manufacturers facing an explosion of new orders as the virus spreads, some hospitals in the United States have been unable to get new shipments of N95 masks or even an estimate of when they might become available.”

”Some Hospitals are close to running out of crucial masks for coronavirus… Some doctors have privately complained about a critical shortage of personal protective equipment, masks, gowns and other supplies at some New Orleans area hospitals, reported by Paul Murphy at Eyewitness News, New Orleans publishes March 20th 2020.

When I read the news from the cities where my campuses are located, I was immediately reminded of the possibilities of these cities in Wuhan region, China like SuiZhou:

The number of confirmed cases is increasing. The laboratory is still experiencing long wait times. Some of the close-knit medical staff have developed a fever … without goggles, they use plastic wrap first. Masks, hats, and protective clothing are not in abundant supply; use a disposable tablecloth.

A 7-month pregnant nurse at Central Hospital of SuiZhou  declined to wear an N95 mask She wanted to save it or the frontline doctors in dangerous contact with coronavirus infected patients.

That was the firsthand information we got over two weeks ago from Ms. Tan through my friend Professor Yang Jia, a longtime graduate and honored Alumni recipient of Kennedy School of Harvard University, and a representative for United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

She has been working with me on producing” Immune Boosting” online teaching series to help people infected by Coronavirus, especially medical workers who are in dangerous situation at the front line of this crisis.

Ever since weeks ago I started working with Professor Yang Jia to launch the “Boosting Immune System” online teaching series project for everyone who needs help during the pandemic, especially the frontline health workers in the US and China, I talked to my team if each of us can do something simply as a human being for the medical workers who risk their lives.

As we see so many hospitals in both China and US , especially hospitals in New Orleans and Atlanta, where our campuses are located, are in great needs of masks and medical protective gears today. I need your help through this GoFundMe campaign.

Thank you for taking the time to consider a contribution through “Corona Love” under the ShaolinChanFoundation a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

We very much appreciate all your support. Together we will overcome all the fears facing the coronavirus, and empower and immune each one of us. Each one of us must hold one’s own light to discover that innate potential and intelligence to activate life and restore to health with totality of life intelligence.

I hope you will watch my upcoming series of videos on Facebook and YouTube to help restore balance and immunity for your bodies and your lives.

Compassionate friends, Let’s work together to overcome and prevail the goodness of humanity.

DeRu ( Shawn X. Liu)

We, as board members, volunteers and friends on behalf of the Shaolin Chan Foundation (SCF) and grandmaster Shifu DeRu (Shawn X. Liu), would like to invite you join our endeavor to propagate “Life wisdom in Chan (Zen) Wu culture with great compassion".

Shaolin Chan Foundation (SCF), also known as the Shaolin World Foundation, a 501(c)(3) International Non-Profit Organization, aims to carry forward and promote the ancient Shaolin Chan (Zen) Buddhist philosophy & spread the wisdom of Chan culture, peace and compassion worldwide.  Under the leadership of the SCF Chairman, the Shaolin 31st generation Grandmaster Shifu DeRu, the SCF delivers a unique experience, inspiring and empowering each individual to unveil their greatest potential through Zen freedom of the body and the mind.

In the last three decades, Shifu DeRu and his team have led thousands of Zen arts and martial arts demonstrations, shows, retreats, camps, conférences, seminars, speeches, and lectures in over 100 cities and to over 2 million people across the globe.

These events have allowed people with various backgrounds, from CEOs, military and police personnel to those with high stress and health issues, to experience the benefits of Zen living in coherence with quantum communication and Zen consciousness – a happy and healthy life by being in resonance with the universe consciousness.  Shi DeRu with his team has sponsored and hosted over 40 Asian and International Cultural Festivals and Kung Fu events in the United States since 1989

Grandmaster DeRu along with his team has provided the value of an estimated of over  $5 million in financial aid, quality education and Qi and nutrition treatment services to countless needy children, amateur sports teams, schools, parents, patients and charity organizations such as Red Cross and St. Jude Hospital. With the support of Shi DeRu and his SCF team, many students in the US have had the opportunity to learn Chinese, Zen meditation, nutrition, natural healing, health wellness training and character based leadership education.

Some were able to attend college through DeRu’s foundation scholarships, and others had the opportunity to enhance their Zen, Tai Chi and Kung Fu studies in China through multicultural exchange programs.  The foundation has also provided financial support to several Chinese primary and secondary school students in poverty-stricken areas of Henan and Sichuan.

Following the devastation left by hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, Shi DeRu and his team were part of the humanitarian relief efforts and provided hundreds of free treatments, seminars and classes for anxiety and high stress hurricane victims.

Shi DeRu with his team has provided Zen-Tai Gong, Tai Chi and nutrition therapies to many children with autism and dozens of advanced stage cancer patients, often those who could no longer find treatments at hospitals and had been told by physicians to have a few weeks to a few months to live,

With the aid of these therapies, ninety percent of the students and patients with cancer extended their life expectancy from 4 years to more than 10 years Additionally, many students with autism, phobias, depression, high blood pressure, lower back pain, shortness of breath, cervical scoliosis, arthritis, and cardiovascular disease have significantly changed their lives and have experienced reduced symptoms or have fully recovered.

As the SCF chairman, Shifu DeRu has mentored many students. Under his tutelage, these students developed grit, discipline and perseverance and eventually went on to achieve their personal goals, whether it was a healthier lifestyle or attaining a higher level of performance in academics, athletics or business. Some of his notable students went on to attend prestigious schools, such as Harvard University, Duke University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Emory University, the University of California at Berkeley, and West Point.

To experience the Shaolin Buddhist meditation or Zen healing is to see happiness and to see that all things come from one source of the conscious universe. When we see that we are all one and the same, that our life is a Chan life, we can begin to see and live the open compassionate wisdom of life.

We hope you will actively participate in and support the Shaolin Chan Foundation so we can jointly build an international Chan (Zen) Culture Information Platform to actively promote and spread Chan culture with virtue and wisdom.

禪 Chan (Zen)

We have a little bit of a branding problem: sometimes we refer to it as Zen, sometimes Chan, and sometimes Chan (Zen). Here’s the deal. Zen and Chan are the same thing. The word Zen is an Americanized version of the Japanese word 禅, which itself is derived from the Chinese word 禪, which is pronounced “Chan." In Pinyin (which is the official romanization system of Chinese) it’s “Chán." Going all the way back to Sanskrit, the word originated as dhyāna or ध्यान. All these words translate literally into something like “meditative state," which is appropriate because meditation is the central practice at the heart of Zen… I mean Chan… I mean Chan (Zen)… You get the point.

Zen may simply be interpreted as innermost consciousness, the way to reach infinite Wisdom, or the way to cultivate wisdom. It also includes the realm of infinite intelligence in the expanded high plainfield of consciousness that can only be reached after deep cultivation coupled with innate discovery. This wisdom is the ultimate consciousness of the universe. It is the wisdom of life, the life intelligence.
