Dear Martial Artists – Kungfu Friends, Competitors and Masters,

Cung Le and I would like to invite you–our friends, fighters, coaches, trainers, masters and guests–to our 2022 KSF- US Open Kung Fu Challenge and KSF-A Super Fight at the Shaolin Institute Business Park Dr. Ste C, Norcross, GA 30071 on June 11th.

This is a special event that showcases not only some of the most well-known original US  Sanda/Sanshou team members and masters but also many younger fighters and coaches who have participated in our Sanshou/Sanda events in the US for the past 30 years. This is indeed a special event to reignite interest in Sanda in the US and worldwide. Cung Le and I will be the co-promoters, partnering together with you for support in joining us for this KSF organized event. The Kung Fu Sanda Federation (KSF) is part of Shaolin Chan Foundation (a non-profit organization promoting Asian wisdom, natural healing, health and martial arts).

Let me give you new fighters a brief explanation of Sanda/Sanshou, which is a form of fighting that incorporates strikes, kicks, kneeing, interception, and combat wrestling (Shauijiao like Judo).

Together we invite not only the coaches and fighters of Sanda/Sanshou but also all martial artists who are interested in learning more about this exciting form of fighting to be part of the event.

This event promises more than just an exhilarating fight in the ring. It will also give martial artists of all styles, amateur or future professional competitors, a chance to express themselves and test their skills while making friends in a positive atmosphere.

The daytime event will consist of individual and group Gong Fu, Tai Chi and other martial arts forms, weapons and light contact competitions, as well as continuous sport sparring with limited light contact and youth Sanda. Please consult the event logistics and agenda lineup for details. The evening event is designed to test the best amateur Sanda/Sanshou fighters in the world.   If you have any questions, call me at 770-286-9808 or send me an email to shaolininstitutega@gmail.com (can we get a new ksf email on this? )

Peace,

DeRu ( Shawn Liu Xiangyang)

Brief History of US Open Martial Arts of SanShou

It’s been almost 30 years since the very first official US Open International Sanda/Sanshou fight in the US at the Mobile Convention Center where we showcased the skills of amazing fighters such as Cung Le, David Sanders and more. During these periods so many new events and changes have happened, such as the rise of MMA among other sports and entertainments.

Sanda, developed from Kungfu like Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do, is a growing sport. Sanda’s popularity is on the rise, and together we will reignite the world’s interests in Sanda. The exciting new era of Sanda is coming. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

The US Open Kung Fu Challenge is unlike any other MMA sport, as it incorporates full body contact with greater freedom to use all styles of combat skills. It is a very exciting combat style for audiences to watch. Fighters are allowed to apply techniques of punching, kicking, kneeing, throwing, interception and wrestling with limited grappling.

To celebrate Sanda’s presence in the US for almost 30 years, the Shaolin Chan Foundation, Cung Le and Shaolin Institute, along with many other organizations and friends, will host and sponsor this KSF-US Open Kung Fu Challenge, and will bring many more US Open Kung Fu Challenge events in years to come.
